I know Margaret was born in Maryland around 1811. Census records indicate her parents were born in South Carolina. She married William Paine in 1832 in Ross county. They moved to Pickaway County, and then I lose track of William. I believe he left her because I can't find any record of his death or any mention of him; there are many Paines in that area, as well as Ross Co. I also think that he left her because she kept the name Paine until her death, and on the 1850 and 1860 census records, she has had more children, yet no husband is listed. She is continually listed as the head of the household. Also, in her children's obits, children who I always thought were full brothers and sisters are both--listed as brothers and listed as HALF brothers and sisters, so she must have has a few with William and a couple with someone else. Her daughter, Elizabeth, did marry Mortimore Carey, and he was also a scoundrel, and I think she also had children illegitimately, prior to her marriage to Mortimore. I know that her son, Frank, is their son. So, it is much confusion. I think Jesse Paine is her son but not William's, Elizabeth is hers and Williams, and I think Bushrod is hers and Williams. I am not sure of the others. Anyway, I've rambled on enough, thank you so much for your interest and help. I'll keep trying to find something.
