Abraham Lakin was born about 1695 in Prince Georges County Maryland, which at that time included all of western Maryland. Abraham was possibly the son of Joseph Lakin, or possibly William Lakyn and Elizabeth Symons. About 1717 Abraham married Martha Lee, the daughter of William and Ann Lee (?). Ten children blessed their union; Sarah, Abraham, Martha, Joseph, Deborah, Elizabeth, Mary, Rachel, Benjamin and Ruth.
