They were and still are a very prominent family in that area. Anyone who is originally from Upper Marlboro can tell you about the Sasscers. As a matter of fact, a Mr. Lansdale Sasscer once employed my mother. I also attended a school named after Frederick Sasscer in Upper Marlboro.
