A Requiem mass was celebrated Feb. 15, at St. Ignatius' Church, Madison and Calvert for the repose of the sours of Lieut. John J. Blandin, Lieut. Jenkins and Assistant Engineer Merrit, who lost their lives in the Maine disaster. Rev. John A. Chidwick, who was chaplain of the Maine, celebrated the Mass. BREEN, John, for 21 years gardener at Johns Hopkins Hospital, died Feb. 5 at his home at 706 N. Wolfe St., of the grip and pneumonia. He had been ill for about five weeks. Mr. Breen was born in Ireland 57 years ago, but had been in this country for 53 years. He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church. BURKE, Cornelius, born Ireland, died Feb. 25. 50 years a resident of East Baltimore. Died at residence of his son-in-law Mr. J. A. Myers, 2025 Guilford Ave. Survived by daughters Mrs. Myers and Mrs. Richard E.M. Davison. CARROLL, MARY Carter Carroll, wife of the ex-Gov. John Lee Carroll, of Maryland, died at her winter home, 1735 N. Street, Northwest, Washington, D.C. on March 7, Mrs. Carroll of the daughter of the late Judge Lucas P. Thompson, of Staunton, VA, and was fifty two years old. She was the second wife of Gov. Carroll. Their marriage took place at the Cathedral in Baltimore in April 1877, while Mr. Carroll was the Governor of Maryland. Rev. Father Lee, cousin to the groom, celebrated the Nuptial Mass. Mrs. Carroll was one of six sisters noted for their beauty and prominent in society. Three of them married three brothers; Miss Eleanor Thompson married R.G. Harper Carroll, and has been dead for some years; Caroline T. Thompson married Mr. Charles Carroll, and is still living. Mrs. Carroll spent about sixteen years with her sister, Mrs. Charles Carroll, in Rome, Paris, and other European cities before her marriage to Gov. Carroll. During the summer months Gov. and Mrs. Carroll liv! ed at the historic family estate, Doughenegan Manor, in Carroll County. Mrs. Carroll is survived by the ex-Governor, and one son, Mr. Phillip Carroll, about 18 years old, and a student at Harvard. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Charles Carroll of Carrollton, Mrs. Robert Hull, 1020 Cathedral Ave., Baltimore and Miss Alice Thompson of Washington. She was a devout Catholic, attending the Chapel at Doughone Manor. Mrs. Herbert Robins, Ex-Gov. Carrolls only daughter in America, was with the family when Mrs. Carroll died. The ex-Governors first wife was the only child of Mrs. Royal Phelps of New York. Children surviving her, in addition to Mrs. Robins, are Mme. De Kergorlay and Mme. De la Grange, who live in Paris; and two sons, Charles Carroll who resides in France, and Royal Phelps Carroll, or New York. Ex. Governor Carroll is the son of Charles Carroll and a great-grandson of Charles Carroll, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Requiem Mass at St. Matthew�! �s, Washington, D.C., after which the remains were taken to the fami ly vault at Bonnie Brae Cemetery, Baltimore. CASSIDY, George. The funeral of Mr. George Cassidy took place April 5 from his late residence, 1524 Harlem Ave. High Mass was celebrated at St. Martin’s Church, Fulton Ave and Fayette St., Baltimore, by the Rev. Gilbert McDonald, who also delivered a glowing eulogy on the deceased. The Pallbearers were: Col. E. J. Chaisty, Joseph Crane, John O'Connor, John H. Katzenberger, Capt. William I. Cook, George C. Morrison, John T. Sheehan and George Falter. DAILEY, Mr. John I., for nearly fifteen years a clerk in the purchasing agents office of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroads, died March 5 at his home at 107 North Monroe St., of consumption. Mr. Daily was born about 31 years ago and was the son of the late James Dailey, a well-known citizen of Carroll, in the southwestern suburbs. He was educated by the Xaverian Brothers at Mount St. Joseph’s College, Frederick Rd. Mr. Dailey was twice married, his first wife having died several years ago. His second wife, to whom he had been married about two years, is the daughter of Police Lieut. Thomas B. McGee of the eastern district. She survives him, with three sons. The deceased was a member of St. Martin's Parish, and O.A.H, Div 3.
