    3. Hello. There is a church and a cemetary in Dunkirk, MD (that's in the northern part of Calvert County) and they are called Smithville United Methodist Church and Smithville Cemetary. I am not sure if the town was ever called Smithville but wouldn't be too surprised. I could ask my Grandmother if I can catch her on a "good" day-she's 84 years old and in the early stages of alzheimers. She would know though. In case anyone is interested though I did get confirmation today that the town of Dunkirk in MD was at one time called Smithville. Sorry for the confusion!
