I have recently found a marriage announcement in the Baltimore Sun for Nov. 12, 1849 in which it is stated that Jose De J. XIQUES and Susannah Grace LEWIS were married by "Mr. Hickey"--no other information is given. I know that this is a question, perhaps too far out on the limb, but would anyone perhaps know if this meant that Mr. Hickey was a justice of the peace since no church was mentioned? Also would anyone have this Susannah Grace LEWIS in their information? It is stated that she was from England, and he is from Cuba. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Suzanne hsweise@comcast.net
