Across the Years in Prince George's County has some information. The first Thomas SPRIGG of Maryland was born by 1630. He deposed, aged 35 in 1665, & in Calvert Co., aged 64 in 1694 [WRC:1:696]). He arrived about 1655 with wf. Catherine GRAVES [She was sister-in-law of Wm. STONE. The confusion was because Wm. STONE, in his will, pr. 21 Dec. 1660, called Thomas SPRIGG brother, but he was brother-in-law of his wife. Catherine GRAVES (ca. 1620 - 166_), who m1. Wm. ROPER & had Wm. & Verlinda ROPER; m2. 3 Mar. 1650, VA, Thos SPRIGG]. Thomas SPRIGG m2. by 1667, Eleanor NUTHALL, who was living in 1696, dau/o John NUTHALL. Will of Thos. SPRIGG, made 9 May 1704, pr. 29 Dec. 1704, named son Thos., daus. Sarah PEARCE, Martha (wf/o Thos PRATHER), Eleanor NUTHALL, Eliz. WADE, Ann GITTINGS. To Thomas STOCKETT, grandson Thomas STOCKETT, & Eleanor STOCKETT. Exs: son Thomas & sons-in-law James {sic, Robert} WADE, Philip GITTINGS, & Thos. PRATHER. Thomas requested burial beside wf. Eleanor and sons John & Elias, & dau. Mary [STOCKETT]. Eleanor NUTHALL (ca. 1648 - 1696?) was dau/o John NUTHALL & Elizabeth [BACON], wid/o John HOLLOWAY. The first Thomas SPRIGG of MD acquired, 1 Mar. 1673, in Calvert Co., "Northampton," which later was in Prince George's Co. Thomas SPRIGG & (first or second wife?) had [Major/Lt. Col.] Thos. SPRIGG (ca. 1668 - 1738/9), who m. Margaret MARIARTE (ca. 1670 - 1739), d/o Edward & Honor of Anne Arundel Co. Thomas & Margaret had Thomas (1693 - 1725), who m. Margaret / Margery WIGHT, d/o John WIGHT, d. 1705, & Ann [BAKER] GANTT, will pr. 26 May 1726. Ann's will named dau. Margery SPRIGG & grandch. Thomas, Ann, & Edward SPRIGG. Will of Eliza GANT, Pr. Geo. Co., pr. 9 Mar. 1718, left entire estate to mother Ann WHITE [sic, WIGHT]. Margery [WIGHT] SPRIGG m2. Joseph BELT (ca. 1680 - 26 Je. 1761). Thomas SPRIGG (Nov. 1715 - 29 Dec. 1780, buried in his "garding"/garden [Quaker Records of S. MD] died "in his 67th year," per MD Gazette; he deposed in 1745, aged 30, AA, 2:212, & 52 in 1767) m. 14 of twelfth mo. 1737, Elizabeth GALLOWAY, Quaker, dau/o Richard GALLOWAY, whose will, 1740/1, named dau.
