Samuel married Martha GORDON on 15 Oct 1846 in either Hocking County or Logan County, Ohio, and they had 9 children. In the 1880 Census of Jefferson Township, Madison County, Ohio, Samuel's occupation was recorded as "Farmer" and his name as Samuel "B." BROWN. Martha (b. 01 Mar 1827 in Perry County, Ohio - d. 09 Apr 1901 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio) was the daughter of Charles GORDON (b. Oct 1801 in Virginia - d. 22 Mar 1873 in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio) and Jane B. FICKLE (b. 06 Dec 1803 in Perry County, Ohio - d. 03 Jun 1865 in Worthington, Franklin County, Ohio). Jane was an older sister of Mary Ann FICKLE (b. 22 Feb 1820 - buried at Union Cemetery, Old Mode, Illinois), who married William BROWN (b. 1815 in Maryland) on 08 Nov 1842 in Ohio.
