My grandmother Gladys Baker, her mother was Anna Ella Schaefer and my Aunt Helen who was my grandma's sister talked about how Georges brother was killed by a truck that ran over him or backed into him. Aunt Helen said that the schaefers were burried at St Marys cemetary off of Roland Ave and I found a John Schaefer, Anna M Schaefer, Grace A Schaefer, Thomas Burrier and Annie Lee Burrier, I'm thinking Jesse Schaefer who would be my g-grandma sister married a Thomas Burrier. Jessie Schaefer would be my grandma Aunt, Is there any connection. Lucy. I work two jobs and watch my granddaughter so I don't delve in genealogy much right now. Lucy

George Schaefer of Schenley Rd in Baltimore was my g-g-grandfather and his parents were Christian Schaefer (our family is adamant about that spelling even though the census usually spelled it wrong) and Dora Kessler from Switzerland. My great-uncle Jack Schaefer lives at 4641 Schenley road to this day in the very house that George built. George was a coach builder for the Pennsylvania railroad and died in this house in 1919. Christian died April20, 1874 and was born about 1823 in Germany (possibly Hesse-Kassel).The 1870 Census says Prussia. Dora was born in Switzerland about 1830. I'm trying to find the place. Christian was a baker who owned his own bakery/confectionary.

George was a coach-builder for the Pa Railroad but died at home. i don't know about the crushing incident. My grandfather told me that George was blind as an old man. he was 8 when George (his grandfather died). George's father was Christian Schaefer-a baker from Germany and his mother was Dora Kessler from Switzerland. They had lived at 247 Pa ave in Baltimore city. I'm trying to find out where in Germany and Switzerland that they came from. I think Christian was from Hesse-cassel and my uncle says that he remembers his father saying something about that.
