I'm assuming the first name is George but am open to interpretation! I know he was in Harford Co., MD in 1854, but other than that, he seems to be a hard person to track down much information on. Please enlighten me with anything you may have! Thanks, and sorry for providing so little info. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi: Seeking information about William Butler Jones and his sister Mary Eleanor. Mary Eleanor married Frederick Whyte in DC. she was born in DC but according to her obit it states that she lived for a few years in Maryland. I've always seen William listed as being born in DC & MD...?? Both were born around 1824..(conflicts from census) unless they were twins! I know William was a blacksmith in Georgetown. My main question is where in Maryland did they live and when? Thanks, Debi

Hello. I hope I've got the right list. I am looking for any information on Margaret Arnell. She was married to John Weimer in Maryland. The marriage would have been in the very late 1700s. Their son Jacob E. Weimer was born in Maryland in 1798. I know nothing of her parents or her siblings. Nor her husband's parents or siblings. She has been a brick wall not only for me, but for other researchers as well. Several of us have been looking for her for years with no luck at all. We can't even find records of them arriving in America. I'm hoping someone on this list will have a suggestion. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Lisa

I'm really glad to see that Christine has posted death notices from Der Deutsche Correspondent to this and other local lists. The DDR and other German-American 19th-century newspapers (there were about 10 or more through the century) are very rich sources of information often not found in the English language dailies. Not only death notices, but the German papers are a great source for obituaries (not the difference!) and news articles that detail every aspect of German life in the city. For those interested, I have a new book coming out later this year which indexes not only death notices but all articles relevant to family history information (marriages, divorces, fraternal societies, birthdays, anniversaries, etc) from Der Deutsche Correspondent between 1879 and 1883. The extraction/transcription work is done, but I have a long way to go to get everything in a useable format. Hopefully it will come out later this year ... These obits come out of several different dates of Der Deutsch Correspondant, a German newspaper in Baltimore. I don't really read German, so the best I've done is to pick out the names and death dates and whatever else I can figure out easily.
