However, there were clues in early tax lists that the GROVES family might have been from Sleepy Creek, now in Morgan Co., WV, just a bit farther west. There are over fifty spellings of GROVE(S), such as GR(A/A/E)F(F/E)S. Many of Lancaster Co., PA, spelled the name GROFF. Unfortunately, the names of the grandchildren of George GROVE didn't include a Catherine. They were Amanda, Clarinda, Eli McDowell, Elias, Elizabeth, Hannah, Henry Sylvester, Joshua, Isaac Newton, Isabelle, John, Juliann Margaret, Leroy, Martha, Mary, & William Clark GROVES. Do you mean you have information on the ancestry of Frederick SHIPLEY? I don't know any more about SPONSELLER. The George Grottle, whom you listed as Sophia's brother was the third husband of Winifred Grottle, my grandaunt. Do you know when and where George died?? Or anything else about him?
