Author: lreaganrhs Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.unknown/7657.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Marilyn, Thanks for you reply. Zacheriah's son Issac B. was my gggranfather and he is buried here in Alabama. I knew Zacheriah's name and were he was located from older family members, but not much more. No one knows who the last name of Zacheriah's wife Grizzle, also born in N.C. 1794. I have a copy of the 1840,and 1850 Census from Cass Co. Georgia. Also, the 1860 US Federal Mortality Schedule from Springtown, Gordon Co. Ga. All have Zacheriah listed on them with his approximate age, and N.C. listed. Also, on the 1850 I.B., and I assume other children are listed. Our biggest problem comes from the fact that my ggrandfather William was killed at age 26 and my grandfather and his sister were raised by my ggrandmother's family. I did have my father's DNA tested and it matches an Absolom Cox born around 1770 in N.C., but that's all I know. I am new at this, and am having a hard time putting the pieces together. I do know that Issac B. was married twice, first wife was a Vistice Roe and ! my gggrandmoter was Nancy Jammerson from S.C. Do not have any clue about where in NC he is from, or who his parents are. The time line fits in with an Issac Cox, but do no have proof. If any of this rings a bell, or if a copy of our DNA test will help, let me know. We are from haplogroup I. Oh, our Cox's married into Saye family. Lisa Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: MarilynRoth58 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.unknown/7657.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: There were always immigrant brothers in the stories, but take the stories with a grain of salt. MD Calendar of Wills has wills for Richard COX, proved 7 Sept. 1647, and Wm. COX, will pr. 14 Oct. 1649. Robert BARNES' Maryland Marriages lists five COX males married in Maryland before 1725. Can you fill in any details about Zachariah COX, b. 1789? What is your reference for year and place of Zacheriah's birth? Do you know the names of his parents? --a specific place in North Carolina where he lived? --when and where he married, the names of his wife and children? --when and where he died? The free Ancestry census database has Zacheriah, Zacharias, & Zacheryah COX of Rowan Co., NC (years not shown). Other names were Israel, John, Moses, Smith, Solomon, & Thomas. Do those names show up in your line? The 1776 Census of Maryland (incomplete) has in St. John & Prince George Parishes, Prince George County, Abraham COX, 25; Mary, 24; Jesse, 5 {sic}; & Zachariah, 2. Prince George's County Indexes of Church Registers, King George's Parish: Abraham COX & Mary had Jesse, b. 21 Feb. 1773 {sic}, & Zachariah, b. 26 Sep. 1774. --This isn't my family, but my early MERRYMAN line connects to some Coxes.
