Author: spntosprno Surnames: Hall, Ringo Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.maryland.unknown/7680/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am researching Elisabeth Ringo (nee?), born ca 1783, wife of Cornelius P Ringo, and came across the below 1860 census. In Elisabeth's household is Amelia Hall, born ca 1791. I am hoping to find the maiden name of Amelia Hall, plus her parents, and find a link to Elisabeth Ringo, and Elisabeth's parents. 1860 U.S. Census, P.O. Mount Sterling, Montgomery County, Kentucky, June 1860, Page 235: Dwelling No. 271, Family No. 271: Elisabeth Ringo, age 77, F, Farmer, 150, 100, born Maryland Chastina (Christina) Ringo, age 37, F, born Ky. Nancy Ring(o), age 20, F, born Ky. *Amelia Hall, age 69, F, born Va. (could this be a sister of Elisabeth's?) *We checked the 1850 censuses for the entire United States, and the only Amelia Hall we found was born in Maryland; she was age 60, the right age. (1850 U.S. Census Brinkleys District 1st Division, Somerset County, Maryland, 20 July 1850, Page 361B, Dwelling No. 160, Family No. 160. Amelia was in the household of: Samuel Hall, age 40 Sarah Hall, age 40 Amelia Hall, age 60 John Hall, age 21 George Hall, age 6 John Hall Jr., age 4 Mary Hall, age 2 Sarah Jr. Hall, age 1, Infant, age 1/12, all born in Maryland) Samuel Hall was obviously a son of Amelia's. Amelia was probably the sister of Elisabeth [--?--] Ringo. She was in Maryland in the 1850 census. The surname Hall would have been her married name. Since Amelia had children, and grandchildren, she may have been visiting Elisabeth, or she may have wanted to be close to her, and was part of the household of Elisabeth. This may be a clue to finding the maiden name of Elisabeth. I will appreciate any help you may give. Thank you! Naturally my sister and I were quite excited to find this info just last year. That farm was deeded to Robert Morrow in 1850 and it is still in the Morrow family! As a matter of fact, my sister and I stopped at that farm in Sinking Valley last summer and met the present owner's wife...Her name is Karen....and I am frantically trying to leaf through my info to get her email so that I can send it to you. We thought it was amazing that the farm had been in the Morrow family since 1850...you should go up there some time. It's right outside Altoona and it's beautiful country.
