There were a number of families from there who migtrated to Kentucky and some later went to Missouri. Many in this group were Catholics. There was still some french Catholic influence in Missouri. There is even a website about Maryland Catholics on the frontier.

Tucker - I have Tuckers in Bladensburg, Hyattsville and Landover from 1840 - 1910. I have found most census records, and church records but have not been able to find who the father of John Henry b 1819 may be. I have checked wills, inventories, town tax lists, land records, and guardian accounts, funeral home directories and newspapers for PG and Montgomery Counties - not a thing! I have found some Episcopal church records an have traveled to all of the churches in the area checking registers for something about John's parentage - nothing! All of the existing church records simply state that he was "of PG County" and was a farmer and manager. 2. In references to John's wife - Ellen Rebecca b 1825 I have checked all of the above as well. She is referred to as " of PG County" and her last name is always cross-referenced between Cooke and Clarke. Were these 2 names interchangeable? Anyone with wisdom or advice - I am in desperate need of some of both!

    2. Elsa Vorwerk
    3. While I live in Maryland, this is the first death certificate I've needed actually in Maryland, and I'm just going round in circles at the Archives and Div of Vital Records websites. If I have the date, do I need to search for the registration number? Since the Archives' "new" ordering procedure only applies to certificates up to 1944, how does one order one for a death that occurred between then and 1968? (1952) ~ and although I see the 100-year rule for birth certificates, I can't find a limit for death certificates (in my experience 25 or 50 years in many states). I'll be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction!! Feeling pretty dumb, ~ Elsa in Allegany County, Maryland REFERENCE: Barbara T. Adams GRANT died 20 January 1952, according to SSDI, last residence in Montgomery County.

Unfortunately, I do not know anything else about my George Clark. And I am not at all familiar with Maryland. With such a common name, I don't even know where to look! The only thing I know is he was born around the Baltimore area. I also had a cousin that lived in Baltimore. But I don't know if it was considered city,or county, etc. I was hoping that I could find a map of that time period and it would possibly help narrow it down. So far,no luck. Do you know - is there such a book that would possibly have info such as occupations of people in it? I know George was a sea captain, but I was hoping to find out more..as in his ship, etc.. I just found my obit. on my cousin which states he lived in Lewistown and Baltimore,MD and worked at the Maryland Dry Dock Company,Baltimore.(he died in 1974 in PA) Does this help any?! Thank you again for getting back to me!

    1. BRADFORD DNA PROJECT
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/SFB.2ACI/4152 Message Board Post: SHAKING THE FAMILY TREE.................... BRADFORD males needed for Family Tree DNA We have been fortunate to receive a Grant to start a Bradford Family DNA project. The immediate focus will be to start with at least one representative of the primary lines: Plymouth, MA, Philadelphia, PA, Maryland, Accomack Co., VA, Charles City Co., VA, Fauquier Co., VA and others. This would give us a firm base. The toughest part of starting a DNA project is to obtain enough results to have meaning, thus the reason for the grant is to give us a database of perhaps 10 individuals. After that it will be up to individuals to purchase their own kit. The Details: 1) sign up 2) send lineage, physical address 3) receive kit 4) return kit 5) wait for results. Pricing after the first ten sign-ups, which will be a 12-marker test (or before if you choose): 12 marker Y-DNA test $99: 25 Marker Upgrade $90: 25 Marker Y-DNA test $169. (+ Postage) The website: http://www.familytreedna.com has answers to your questions, as well as explanatory notes. THE PACE SOCIETY's DNA project can be found at: http://pacesociety.org/DNA/. Click on Results. All is not as thought and it is really interesting, several different Virginia lines. On the concern of giving up your DNA - if your insurance person took a swab of your cheek or drew blood, it's a done deal. If you were born after about 1960+ in a hospital, it's a done deal. In numerous ways, it's a done deal. This is secure in that it uses a numbering system - all is explained on the site. The kit comes to you and you return it, the results come to you and to the Project Administrator for analysis and to build family groups. Unfortunately only Bradford direct male descendants are eligible. The ultimate would be to start with individuals who have an idea of their family five or so generations back. The most recent generations would not be used as an identifier. It isn't necessary to have a 'proven' lineage. Representatives of the 'PRIMARY' lines mentioned above are needed to anchor this Project in order for others to add roots to their tree. As the Project increases it is entirely possible to expand the study to identify the areas of origin of our ancestors across the sea, another reason for a substantial base of primary lines. The purpose of the Project would be to identify 'Family Groups' and the common ancestor of each. The Y chromosome is passed from father to son unchanged, except for a mutation about every 500 generations. With the 12 marker DNA results, the numbers can be compared and family groups designated. The conclusions will be available for the benefit of all. If you have an interest or know a Bradford male who would be interested in participating, use the below addresses to sign up or query. [email protected] Becky Mosely, Project Coordinator THE BRADFORD PROJECT Together we can tear down those 'Brick Walls' ! Participate by passing this information on to all Bradfords REMEMBER, DNA is the Gene in Gene..alogy!
