I believe Stephen Sr. and unknown wife had several children including Stephen Jones Jr. b. avt 1779 and Lemuel Jones b. about 1780. Believe entire Jones family moved to Kentucky about 1770 to 1800. Stephen Sr. is son of William Jones b. January 10, 1772/1773 and Elizabeth Williams . Believe Lemuel Jones is my GGG Grandfather who appears in 1810 Census in Cumberland Co KY. There is also a Stephen Jones there enumerated next to him and that could be Lemuel's brother. NEEDED: 1. What is the History of Jonses moving from MD to KY? 2. That will give you an idea what papers existed back then and what is available now. Also, church records could help, if you know what denomination the person belonged to. I will be traveling east and one of the states is Maryland..I'm photographing the areas the ancestors lived, along with cemeteries etc.. You mentioned "other documents" may give some information..What kind of documents? Do you know if Maryland recorded marriage's in the 1760-1790 time frame? I can't determine from the two stories if they were married in Maryland or PA. Also, where their children were born, one story states Maryland the other states they "raised their family in Uniontown PA. Thanks so very much...........Yvonne

It was not always 7 years. You will find no listings although mention may be made in other documents. Some passengers were bonded/indentured and transported for petty crimes, not sure of length of service, but listing is given in "Emigrants in Bondage" with a brief statement of where landed, court which handled the case and sometimes age/crime.

I believe I have found 3 brothers: Thomas McCarty, born 1788 in Maryland, lived and owned land in Jasper and Richland Counties, Illinois, died 19 Feb 1860 in Shelby County, Illinois James McCarty, born 1789 in Maryland or Delaware, lived in Daviess County, Indiana John McCarty, born 1792 in Maryland, lived and owned land in Jasper and Richland Counties, Illinois I believe it was from the Eastern shore because the 1850 US census states that James was born in Delaware.
