    1. [MCREYNOLDS] Closing of unused lists
    2. Lisa Johnstone
    3. Hello everyone, I am sure you have notice by now that all the Rootsweb boards and lists have transitioned and have been completed. During the transitions, some of the boards/lists were down and not sure how many we are back up and running. However, starting last week, non active boards/lists are being shut down/closed due to inactivity. If you wish to have these boards and lists remain, please write to the boards/lists with your questions, what you are working on, if you are available to help others with the same or related surnames, etc. and continue to do so. Without the participation of the members, our lists will be closed. I have previously linked the boards of the same surname to their respective lists. I share those with the lists as not everyone on the boards are members and could have some information someone is looking for. I know everyone is busy with family, jobs, etc but please consider writing in every once in a while. It will help keep the list open and available. Have a great evening! Lisa Johnstone List Admin

    1. [MCREYNOLDS] Rootsweb Update
    2. Lisa Johnstone
    3. Hi everyone, Rootsweb lists are back on line and are working. They are still completing some of the archives so that will take longer. The upgrade includes a completely new interface. Also, if you have not re-registered your account after March 1st, you will need to do this. Your email address is still in the system, your password is not. If you re-register with the email address you previously used, you will not have to resubscribe to your lists as they all transfered with the new system. The only thing that did not is your password which is why you have to re-register. Please read the help pages here: http://home.rootsweb.ancestry. com/listindexes/listsHelp Thanks and have a great weekend! Lisa Johnstone List Admin

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: CMComans Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcreynolds/378.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: To my knowledge no one has done the YDNA project. Most members of the family who have looked into our ancestry started in the late 90's before that came about. I am descended from Isaac's son Asa McReynolds, Lucy's brother. You are right about John W being in the 1860 but not 1870. I agree that John most likely died in the civil war or at least before 1870. He is also in an 1850 Census living in McCracken Co., Kentucky. The dates are wrong for Mary but most of the children are consistent with those listed in the 1860 census. Also I believe the "Sallie" in the 1860 census is actually "Sarah Ann" who is listed in the 1850 census. I attached a picture of the 1850 Census for you to see. I would like to find an 1840 or 1830 census record of John to prove he was born in TN but those records are not very helpful. Author: 44sandygen Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcreynolds/378.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am also looking for John W McReynolds. my grandmother was Lucy Irona McReynolds Bagwell. She was the daughter of Isacc Hall McReynolds. I have found JW McReynolds in Ky in 1860 but he does not show up in 1870.Mary and the family is in the 1870 Ky census. I did find a John W McReynolds civil war record but could not find and thing but where he joined at Colombus Ky. I assume he died in civil war but it is a guess. I would love to find out if any of this family has done the YDNA . It might help us find a match. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: CMComans Surnames: McReynolds Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcreynolds/378/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for information on John W. McReynolds. I believe he was born around 1821 in Tennessee; however, it is possible he was born in Kentucky. John married a woman named Mary A Hall and they had several children, one of which is Isaac Hall McReynolds. There is another man--according to census records--living in TN with a wife name Mary but he was born several years after my ancestor, and the children are similar but not the same. Does any one have any information on a John W who born in 1821? Specially who his parents were. Thanks, CMC Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: WMcReynolds Surnames: McReynolds Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcreynolds/377/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The McReynolds DNA Project is up and running with the latest in McReynolds research available. Only males with the McReynolds surname are tested as DNA is passed down from father to son for hundreds, if not thousands of years. There are currently seventeen members in the project. All that is required is a 37 marker DNA test available by cheek swab from www.FamilyTreeDNA.com and a simple 'join' request to the McReynolds Surname Project. After joining upon request, there are several out of print books on the McReynolds family available plus updated research into the McReynolds family. Also, available is information as to where their DNA originated in Scotland. Contact William McReynolds at bill4csa@bellsouth.net for further instructions about participation.
