William Brown was married the Deborah McQueeen, Sarah Stoughton McQueen and then to my 2nd Great Grandmother Elizabeth Devore. William and Sarah were divorced in March of 1842 and William and Elizabeth were married 8/18/1842 in Columbus Indiana. William and Elizabeth moved from Flatrock Township to Wayne Township and can be found there in 1850 census for Bartholmew. This census shows William residing with Elizabeth, Jousha his 15 year old son from Deborah, his daughter Josephine the eldest of his children from Elizabeth, Minerva and William my great grandfather. William and Sarah Stoughton McQueen had a daughter in 1840 named Mary Eliza Brown. Sarah was awarded custody of Mary Eliza. Mary Eliza was married twice. Her 2nd marriage was to Thomas J Ireland. They can be found in the 1870 Tazewell County, IL census with children. Mary and Thomas moved to Iowa in the late 1870's earlier 1880's. Mary died in the 1890's. Apparently there was little communication with her mother in Bartholomew county because Mary Eliza was mentioned in her Mother's will but had died 5+ years earlier. Sarah Stoughton's will is on file at the Bartholomew County, Columbus Indiana court house. Sorry for the rough detail. (Doing this from memory, it's been awhile since I have had the time for researching.) If you have additional questions please feel free to contact me at akabrat@earthlink.net.
