Patricia here I go again. Are you in touch with Graham Bisset? I have been going through old stuff and found this email which was posted on the mcqueen list on 16th Nov 2003. His email address then was _gmfbisset@freeuk.com_ (mailto:gmfbisset@freeuk.com) and you are connected to him! Here is the transcript...... Hi there, fellow listers! I have managed to trace one arm of my lineage back to Owen McQueen (also named Queen or Quinn in records found thus far), born around 1816 in Kirkinner, Wigtown. From what I already know, Owen married Margaret Copeland on 22 June 1837 in Mochrum, Wigtown. I believe they had 6 children, all born in Mochrum. These are Elizabeth McQueen (born circa 1838), Peter McQueen (born 25 Sept 1839), James McQueen (1) (born 1st Dec 1841), Margaret McQueen (born circa 1844), John McQueen (born 7 April 1846) and James McQueen (2) (born 23 May 1848). James McQueen (2) went on to marry Ellen Doyle on 10 April 1870 in Liverpool. I am now seeking further information on Owen McQueen and of course any earlier generations. I would be grateful if anyone has any information or clues on the above. With thanks, Graham Bisset Sutton London UK sincerely Dawn
Hi Dawn: Yes indeed I know Graham, He is my nephew. In fact I have been working with him for information as his Mom is my sister and she lives in England. The name changes from Macqueen to McQueen and sometime McQuinn. His email is the same you have gmfbisset@freeuk Owen was Born Ireland or Kirkinner not sure which. Recently I found Owen McQuinn b.1816 on BIVR death 1891, age 75, Cheshire, Merseyside on the Free BMD Index England and Wales 1837 -1924 and his youngest son William Owen born Liverpool 1858 found in 1861 Liverpool census. I have a copy if you or Graham would like to see this entry. William Owen McQueen m. Elizabeth Duvall in 1880 BIVR Liverpool marriage records St.Silas, Liverpool BMD Index 1837-1924 & Margaret McQuinn died 1867 age 51, Liverpool, Lancs. These may be our relatives because Owen often signed himself McQuinn not McQueen. In the 1841 1851 Scots census Owen was called Queen and McQueen. In the 1861 census Liverpool he was called Owen Macqueen age 46, Margaret age 44 so the ages and the area look right to me. A daughter named Elizabeth age 22 in 1861 census I cannot find but a daughter not in this census Margaret born 1844 may be found married to George H. Ward St.Silas, Liverpool 1869 and another Margaret born Liverpool christened St.Silas 1880 daughter of William and Elizabeth McQueen. I hope I am right with these people but the dates names and connections seem right to me. I only have some of the entries from the LDS www.familysearch.com and got no certificates. I was told the church was bombed in the Blitz WWII.
