Re variations on names. An authority pointed out to me that Donald is often entered as Daniel on census records and other records. His explanation is that in the early years here in America, the census taker had difficulty in understanding names because of the heavy Scottish burr (accent). I wonder if this also accounts for some of the variations of MacQueen.
