Interesting Dawn but hard to tell. My Owen Macqueen was a lowland Scot if you mean from Galloway, Wigtown, Scotland area. He brought his whole family to Liverpool in 1861 on Brit census 1861. He had a son called John who may have had a son called John James born Liverpool ca. 1870s ish. I think he had other children, will check if I can find them. Owen Macqueens children were Elizabeth b.1838, Peter b. 1840, James b. 1848 (my line) John, b.1846, Margaret b.1844 and last William born 1855 Liverpool. Their parents were lowland Scots Owen Macqueen, 46 wife Margaret 44 and all the above mentioned children were born in Mochrum, Wig. Scotland I found them in 1841 and 1851 Mochrum census and 1861 Brit census from south Liverpool. I will look see at www.familysearch.com the LDS site which give lots of info and get back to you. Can you find any more info on John James, he might be the son of my John, brother to my great gran uncle James who married Ellen Doyle in church in Liverpool 1870 and had 3 sons Albert born 1871. Frederick W. born 1874 and Thos Owen (my grandfather) b.1876. He came to Dublin, Ireland as a pioneer electrician and married my grandma had my Dad John who had me and so on.....Regards, Patricia ----- Original Message ----- From: DAWNMACQUEEN@aol.com To: McQUEEN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Wednesday, November 02, 2005 12:17 PM Subject: Re: [McQUEEN] Re: Was the surname McDUGAL changed to McQUEEN on arrival to US? How interesting. I have some Macqueens who lived in Liverpool 1920 - 30 - 40 ish - John James (Jim) Macqueen worked at the Radio Stn, then moved with his family (wife Kathleen, daughter Jean and son Roy Stuart) to Rugby where he headed up the radio stn. I dont know why they were there in the first place (work????) but Jim was born in Birmingham and his father was a lowland scots (John Macqueen). Another relative who was local to Liverpool was Jessie Macqueen - I believe she was a senior manager in the Manchester Co-op. If any of this rings bells for you, let me know. sincerely Dawn Dawn Macqueen ==== McQUEEN Mailing List ==== List Information: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~valorie/McQueen-L.htm ============================== Jumpstart your genealogy with OneWorldTree.
