We all look for one in the paper in the city/county of death, but there may be more than one paper covering that area. So be sure to check that, for starters. Then, if the person has moved about a bit, check the main places s/he lived, *especially* the home town. Finally, the obit should give you the funeral home, so be sure to contact them. Some are uncooperative, but some are goldmines of information. If you can't find the person you want in the census, start looking in city or county directories and/or telephone directories for those areas. Also, have you searched for a will or letters of administration? There are many, many possibilities for information, and you have to just keep turning over every stone until you find everything you need. Be sure to contact the Butler Co.
