My friend here in California Mary is from there. She was related to McDonalds on her Moms side, so we are probably related to each other. I would love to have that book, could I buy a copy from you, or where could I get it. I am pretty sure most McQueens are descendants of the first ones in Skye and the islands. The first people there were Norwegians, Norse and they intermarried or were forced to leave. Some Norse language still prevails there. Sveyn of Sweyn was a Norse person and the name anglicised to become Sween or Queen added Mc and there you have us. The McDonalds claim descent from them and so are related but had a clan of their own on the Isles. When Moira McDonald or McQueen (I foget which) married into the McIntosh clan, some McQueen relatives came with her, were given land in Corrybrough and other places near Inverness and became part of clan Chattan, fought many battles, check it out if you like. Anyway could you let me know how to access that book you have I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, slan, Beannacht Dei leat and Happy New Year. Old Scots and Irish woman in San Francisco. Patricia. I hope to make my trip to Ireland in June, God Willing. ----- Original Message ----- From: Dick Smith To: McQUEEN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Friday, December 31, 2004 7:23 AM Subject: [McQUEEN] McQueens of Skye My grandmother's grandfather came from Skye and came to PEI, Canada with Lord Selkirk abt. 1800 with two boat loads of Skye immigrants. Your Betty McQueen side could of stayed behind on the island and could be all from the same relations. I have the book of the Skye pioneers written by a McQueen who decended from the original landers. Dick
