Last residence: Upland, San Bernardino Co. CA 91786. SSN: 527-09-7259, issued: Arizona Also, I searched for just McQueen in San Bernardino Co. CA, and found 10 others. One of the women *could* be JB's wife. I would get out the map and find the towns closest to Upland and investigate those first. There are a couple of things you can do with this info. For starters, go to http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi and locate JB's record, and put a message and your contact info in a Post Em (right hand column). This will enable any relatives to contact you. If you want, you can click the SS-5 link and generate a letter to the SSA requesting his SSN application. I searched California newspapers in the database America's Obituaries and Death Notices, but did not find his obit. I have some great links for finding obits and burial sites here: http://valoriez.blogspot.com/2003/12/death-records-obituaries-biographies.html and here: http://valoriez.blogspot.com/2004/03/obituaries.html Also, since you have an exact date of death, you might be able to get the San Bernardino newspaper on microfilm, and search for the few days after 23 Jan. Best of luck, Valorie
Thanks Valorie but I don't think it's mine. You see my James McQueen was born 1848 in Mochrum, Wig. Scotland. I believe I have his death notice in Liverpool 1890s. But of course they could be related somewhat. Now I am looking for Peter McQueen who may have died in Wigtown, Scotland or went to England. I never heard that any migrated to the USA except myself although I could be wrong. Thanks also for the sites, will look into them.
