Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XI0.2ACEB/510.1 Message Board Post: Steven, if you are just beginning, begin with yourself, not a book. Document your life, and tie yourself to your parents with those records. Then do the same for your parents' generation, including all their siblings. And so forth, back generation by generation. At some point, you may need to locate a copy of the book, because it *could* document your family. But you need to prove your way back, first. For some good lessons in how to start, see the Rootsweb Guides, at http://rwguide.rootsweb.com/ Tell us more about what you know of your McQueens, and we can possibly help you out. Sometimes you even luck out and find a cousin who has done research on your own or a related line. You never know until you post! Valorie

    3. Thanks Valorie but I don't think it's mine. You see my James McQueen was born 1848 in Mochrum, Wig. Scotland. I believe I have his death notice in Liverpool 1890s. But of course they could be related somewhat. Now I am looking for Peter McQueen who may have died in Wigtown, Scotland or went to England. I never heard that any migrated to the USA except myself although I could be wrong. Thanks also for the sites, will look into them.
