Surnames: MCQUEEN CONNELLA Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XI0.2ACEB/524 Message Board Post: I'm seeking information on my great-great-great grandmother, Sarah Ann McQueen. She was born in South Carolina 23 Sep 1815 and moved to Alabama before 1837, where she and Levin McKeelie Connella were married on 25 Jul 1837, in Montgomery Co.. Levin was a widower with at least two children, Alexander Argo Connella and James Wright Connella. Sarah and Levin lived in Pike Co., Alabama, until about 1847, when they moved with at least two children to Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. They resided there until their deaths, Sarah in 1876 and Levin in 1871. They are buried there in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. I do not have any information at all on Sarah's parents or siblings. There are numerous McQueens in Montgomery and Lowndes Counties in Alabama, and they seem to have come out of South Carolina. She was almost certainly related to them, as they all seem to be related to each other. There are Alabama land patent records for a Joseph McQueen in Pike Co., AL, for sections purchased at the same time, and in adjacent areas, as sections purchased by my great-great-great grandfather, Levin Connella. I suspect Joseph may have been a brother of Sarah, but it is not at all clear. Any information on this line would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email me directly at s.connella@cox.net Thanks!

This message board has been created to enable you to post inquiries about your loved ones, friends, neighbors, and "genie friends" who may have been in harm's way. Queries and news about archives, libraries, repositories, cemeteries, and other items of genealogical interest are also appropriate for this board. Photo was taken in Madison, WI, and they each look to be early 20s in the photo. I found Jesse R. McQueen, a farmer, age 36 – and his wife Clara A., age 38 – in the 1930 census for Lowville (Columbia Co.) WI. That census states that Jesse was 21 when married and Clara, age 23, so this is the same couple. Email me at margerice@prodigy.net if you are related to Jesse and Clara McQueen

Lisa, I hope this helps. John McQueen consorted with Mary Hopper(possibly widow of John Hopper). I am not sure if he was married to her or not. John McQueen and Mary had a son Minor and a daughter Dorothy. I am still digging around to prove some of this information so don't take it as "written in stone". It may help you find some clues.
