I find all of the Children but David C. McQueen. David C. McQueen never shows up on John and Nancy Crew McQueen's Land deeds, Births records, Wills, Church, Succession, and Marriages but all of the other Children are on all of the records. I have more that I am confused about on who is David C. McQueen father. I do believe that John and Nancy McQueen may be his mother and father but I can not prove his birth to them or that he was around them at anytime, but all the other children are always around with them. His father was a John McQueen out of Ala., Tenn., Ga., S.C., or N.C. but which one. He could be of James McQueen's family a grandson or the Bro. of Peter McQueen that was Chief of the Creek Indians in 1815. .....Someone some day will see this and let me know. That David C. McQueen was something else...... DAVID C. McQUEEN DAVID C. McQUEEN family came from Ala. to Texas around 1825. I have a copys of a Mexican Land Deed dated 1827 and Suit filed in 1854 at Sabine Co, Texas over David C. McQueen Land by [THE McQUEEN HEIRS vs SAMUEL GOODE] file by John F. McQueen , Susan W. Burress, and Mary Jane McFarlane the Children of David C. McQueen dated 29th. of march 1854. Also I have a copy of John F. McQueen's Power of Attorney to Robert C. McFarland his brother-in-law dated Nov. 13th 1847 on file at the Coffee Co. Register's Office in Manchester, Tenn. so Robert C. McFarland can represent John F. McQueen in his mother's Succession in Tenn. David C. McQueen received a Mexican Land Grant made by Government dated 24th. of Feb. 1827 in the Land Grant it states that he lives on Angelina River and Neches River. He states he came here accompanied by his Father-in-Law THOMAS WILLIAMS who helped with the labor of constructing a house and painful labor of clearing the farm land on the Angelina River. He received 22,000 Varus of land for the sum of $35.00 to be paid to the State of Coahuila. The $35.00 fee was paid later by Anderson Barclay in Sept. 01, 1834. David C. McQueen SPANISH DEED Deed Book "E" Page # 169 - 173 in Jasper, Texas { to David C. McQueen } FREDONIA REVOLT David C. McQueen stated he fought in the Dec. 16, 1826 Fredonia Revolt in the Mexican Ranks under Col. Du Pedro Elias Bean. This Revolt came about due to Benjamin Edwards, the brother of a corrupt American Empresario in Texas, rides into Nacogdoches, Texas and declares that he is the ruler of the Republic of Fredonia, which he defines as extending from the Sabine to the Rio Grande Rivers. Stephen F. Austin raises a small army and squelches the Revolt, but the seeds of distrust are sown between the American Texans and the Mexicans. Henry H. 3. My 2-great grandfather was John D. McQuien who I have as born about 1782 in Scotland. He was married to Sarah McMullen in Cumberland County, NC, on 29 September 1814. Sarah, and Sarah... any chance that Sarah McQueen might be Sarah McMullen McQuien's daughter? I have 3 children for them, my great grandmother Mary, John A., and Angus. John A. was the oldest, born in 1823... but it stands to reason that there were older children who I know nothing of. John D. came to Sumter County, Georgia, before 1840. I don't know where he was 1814-1840 nor when nor where he died. Richard White Tallahassee, Florida Buzgen2@aol.com wrote: >Hi Scott, I would be interested onjoining you. 3. This is an obituary I found in the Times. My MacQueens were in Chile at this time and their ancestors were also Glasgow traders - but no connection with this William. Does anybody know who he is? Many thanks, Jane "The Times, Tuesday, Aug 07,1934; pg 12; Issue 46826; col C Mr. William Macqueen Category: Obituaries Mr. William Macqueen Mr. William Macqueen, entomologist and traveler, has died at Valparaiso at the age of 45. Reuter's correspondent at Santiago says that Mr. Macqueen contracted a chill when leading an expedition in the Aysen territory, skirting Chilean Patagonia. This expedition, besides its special entomological aims, was studying the botany, zoology, geology, glaciation and general topography of the region between the River Cisnes and Lake Buenos Aires. Mr. Macqueen, whose father was one of the most successful Glasgow traders on the West Coast of South America, was educated at Glasgow Academy and at the Universities of Edinburgh and Oxford. When the War broke out, he was in Germany. He escaped and served with the Northumberland Yeomanry, taking part in the first battle of Ypres. Five years ago, he inherited his father's fortune and had since devoted himself to travel. Mr. Macqueen was an only son, and he had one sister, Mary Elizabeth Macqueen, who lives at Wadham, Worcestershire."

    3. Sorry it took me awhile to respond. Yes, I have seen the information on Fox's Thicket and McQueen's Choice. I think William sold his land to buy the land in PA, but he may have had other lands that would have been probated. Or, as sometimes is found in the old records here in Ohio, the paper work was never filed as it should have been. Then when the person dies there is legal records to clear up. 3. Hi Henry, can you give me some of your notes on Thomas Macqueen or McQueen I have several in my family all came from Liverpool via Scotland 1850s. I only go back to Owen 1815 born Ireland. His sons were James, John, Peter and William Owen born in Liverpool (William only) rest born in Scotland. James sons Albert, Thos.Owen and Frederick W.(his father Owen) Judging by the Scots preference for calling sons after their father and his father or their mother's father maybe there is a Thomas and a William in there history. 3. Dawn, You are a gem!!! Thanks so much for passing on all this information. Certainly organizes all the bits and pieces that I have gathered. Definitely will check out the Brian Osborne book - hopefully one is located close to home. Lots of information to 'prove'. Much appreciation, Eunice -----Original Message----- From: DAWNMACQUEEN@aol.com [mailto:DAWNMACQUEEN@aol.com] Sent: February 26, 2006 12:47 AM To: McQUEEN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [McQUEEN] The family history - Braxfield I agree with Eunice. I regularly 'google', alta vista, megacrawl, check LDS, Ancestry.com etc. etc. in case of something new and I did it again following Jacquelyn's email and whilst there is a lot of interesting social and legal history, there is nothing tangible on the actual family tree of the Braxfields or their origins. However, The book, 'The Hanging Judge' by Brian Osborne (which incidentally uses the Raeburn picture for its front cover) is a very good piece of work and I would recommend it. Eunice, I enclose the tree data which I copied at The SocGen in London (from Percy's file!). It should be pretty accurate, but you will want to check off one or two points. 2. Can someone confirm for me, in 18th century Scottish law would a wife be able to be executor for her husband or would they have to follow a 'blood' line?? Those of you who saw my note on Robert Dundas Mcqueen may recall that his sister (Mary) was executor eventhough his wife (Lilias) was still living. As she married soon after his death I interpreted it that their marriage had already failed. It now strikes me that I could be wrong. Any views on that?? sincerely Dawn

    3. Dawn, glad you found something interesting on Dundas McQueen. I havent progressed much lately. Still looking for birth of Owen and Peter his son where he went after coming to Liverpool. He may have joined the Royal Navy Cheers, Pat ----- Original Message ----- From: DAWNMACQUEEN@aol.com To: McQUEEN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, February 27, 2006 5:19 AM Subject: Re: [McQUEEN] have you seen the wills index?? Dear All I found some really interesting info on Mcqueens at _http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/_ (http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/) Whilst there is a charge to access original documents there is a lot of free info in the wills area. I did purchase the Robert Dundas Mcqueen will (Feb 1817), which is fascinating - but gave me few leads on my own tree research. I found that his possessions were all to be sold off and his sister (quoted as next of kin) Mary (Honyman) was dealing with all of this. This was interesting as his wife, Lilias, was still alive (she died in 1846). Lilias did make a very good marriage again in August 1817. It looks as if she did perhaps have her new beau, Richard, in tow and ready sincerely Dawn ==== McQUEEN Mailing List ==== To Unsubscribe: Click on mailto:McQueen-L-request@rootsweb.com to create a new message with UNSUBSCRIBE as the *only* text in the message, and as the subject.
