The boat was known as "Peanut John" because it transported peanuts on the Evansville and Tennessee River Packet whose president was a John Gilbert, thus the steamship Presley was on was named for him. He moved to Tennessee and had a son named after him but written in the census as Presly. Would appreciate any info you could provide both for Presley and the John Gilbert. Thanks, Jane
