She was born Apr 1870, born, according to her death certificate, in Houston, TX, but this may not be accurate. I think the family was originally from AL, some moved to TX, and then some wound back up in AL. I know that Mittie moved back to AL; family lore states that, after their parents died, she and her brother were sent back to AL to live separately with aunts and uncles. I've been unable to get anywhere with this family! Thanks!
