There was the following connection to a McMurry in Howard Co., MO., posted in the Howard Co. queries. I don't believe E.L. posts anymore; however, this Jane was dau. of John and Mary McM of Barren Co., KY. John was quite possibly from the Augusta Co. McM's. How has not been determined. Do not know if your McM's could have desc. from these B.C. McM's, but John d. ca. 1798, wife Mary remarried to James Woods but she d. before younger chn. grown. John and Mary's son Samuel was guardian of younger children. No known marriage for Samuel, who d. ca. 1820. He and his brother Washington (probably G.W.) were in War of 1812 but their records could not be found when I requested them. No marriage known for "Washington," either, but there's a G.W. there in 1840, married, with children. Third brother James was in charge of Samuel's estate when he d.; James m. first a Gassaway, I believe 1826, then a Reed, 1834. Jane, in the item below, is one of two daughters; the other m. a Jenkins in Barren Co., KY. I do not know anything further of this family, except that families of these names, inc. the Woods family, belonged to the Mill Creek Presbyterian Church, with a number of families from Augusta Co., VA. I believe that church wound up in Metcalfe Co., with county divisions. The county seat of Barren Co., KY, is also Glasgow, of course. There may have been quite a community of Barren Co. transplants in Howard Co. I am interested in anyone having any information on Samuel MADDOX Jr., b. 1790 in MD and d. after 1850 in Glasgow, Howard Co, MO who m. 1815 in Barren Co, KY to Jane MCMURRY, b. 1792 in Barren Co, KY, Everett Littlefield--Thu Aug 13 17:20:05 1998 Wilda McMurry
