Samuel is listed on the Eusebia Presbyterian Church website (go see on the website, it's fun to read!) as a founder, as are the Bogles(also my ancestors..they married the McMurrays) and another family, the McTeers. (The church is located in Tennessee where the McMurrays, Bogles, McTeers, etc. had property during the colonial or post-colonial period) They all keep surfacing together in my research, along with the Reverend Archibald Cox, who evidentally was a Presbyterian evangelist who founded several Presbyterian churches in the Tenessee/Maryland/Pennsylvania area. (The borders of these states/colonies changed several times in the 1700's and early 1800's, which makes it more confusing.) It looks like these families might have known each other. I am trying to figure out if John McMurray is the ancestor who immigrated here from Europe, maybe even with some Bogle or McTeer friends??. I'm hitting dead ends. Did he sail from Northern Ireland, or possibly even from a ship that started its voyage from Holland?? In any event, it's pretty fun to know that these ancestors were very early American colonists! I'd love to find the real link to Europe. Distant cousin Sherman Watkins - Hello! Does any of this ring a bell?
