Hi, I went to the Raleigh archives. I LOVE to look thru that stuff. I mean it is the actual will's, deed's marriage license/bonds. Those papers aren't copied or anything. You get to touch the same paper they touched! I had a friend to go and look at the archives. She said this lady was looking at some old stuff and a hair fell out. She said, oh I have a 200 year old hair...<grins> Those old documents are made on foolsap, parchment paper. Its amazing. The best thing you could do, is go to the Raleigh Archives. You will find ALOT of good finds. I hope to go back soon.
I live in Cary, NC, the city next to Raleigh. I am going to have to do this sometime!
