I have McMurry's in Smith Co TN, and I know of a Moses Oldham/Odum in Smith Co TN, but I don't recognize Joseph Alexander McMurry, but his age would put him in the next generation from the families that I have the most information about, so he might be a son of one of my 4th or 5th great-uncles. My line is that of Samuel McMurry of Orange Co NC, through his son Charles McMurry who married Jannet Douglass in Caswell Co NC, and moved from Person Co NC to Smith Co TN around 1797-1799.
