Dear kwoods, My mistake. I meant Smuals children, not James'. I've been reading too many of these, I guess. they are starting to run together. E
Dear kwood, You say you have a will of James Mcmurry, or whatever name they may have migrated to, and he had a daughter, Mary. Do you have any info on who she married? I'm trying to find a Mary Mcmurry that married Josiah Means, and had a daughter named Elizabeth. She would be my GG grandmother. ( I think I have enough "greats" in there). Elmer Bright Bartlesville Ok.
I am interested in the will for the Samuel McMurry recorded 1803. I am looking for the parents of Thomas who eventually settled in Blount Co. Alabama. He was born about 1785 and named his first son Samuel. Do you have any additional information on this family? Could you possibly email me a copy of the will? Thanks for any help. We have been looking for his parents for many years with no success. The census records show he was born in TN but it was not a state at that time so records may be in NC. I'd like to see a discussion of another James, that other ? son of William the elder of VA. The only followup I know of with him, is his appearance to sign for the marriage of his daughter, Ben Callahan's ancestor, in NC. By the date of that signing, in the 1760's, it's possible to think that either he's William the elder's oldest son; or possibly a brother. We now think that we are descendants of his. We think the Thos. in Fayette Co., KY in 1810 (this is a separate one from the Thos. in Lincoln Co. KY) was his son; we think he was the father of our Samuel who was in Barren Co., KY in 1830, and whose chn. include Thos W. (my ancestor), John Green (his two daughters m. Guest and Garnett, both went to TX near their aunt Isabelle), Isabelle, who m. Smith James, Dorles Repass' ancestor, and William H., who was in Barren Co., KY until near the Civil War and who apparently left no male descendants. Note that the only known male descendants of Samuel, therefore, are from my Thomas W., who wound up in Franklin Co., AR. We also think that Thomas (Fayette) had a son James (the firstborn, probably), who had a son Thomas, who m. (probably a second marriage) Margaret Waller, Union Co., KY. No proof for most of this. But the names fit, the time fits, and we were always told by our McM family historian, who's been remarkably accurate, that the McMs came from Lexington, KY. Another name skips along with these families is Cruise/Cruce/Cruse etc. Would welcome any discussion. Wilda McMurry

Hello Everyone, I am back from my over-seas trip. While I was away, I was only able to get to my email for 3 very short sessions, and those were to clean out my on-line inbox so the messages would not begin to bounce. I saw a few emails come through the list(s) while I was away... but not many. So, jump right in and remind us for whom you are searching. (Just remember to change the subject line.) Leslie Kohler

Hello Everyone, While at the West Valley Genealogical Society Library (in Youngtown, Arizona) recently, I took down some information from a book entitled: "The 1890 Missouri Veterans' Census Index". There were names of MO veterans, along with information as to where each was living. Here is what I found: Andrew W. McMURRY Lincoln, Douglas County, MO James McMURRY Colony, Knox County, MO Maria J. McMURRY Colony, Knox County, MO I hope this helps someone here. Leslie Bridges Kohler - List Administrator
Good Morning, As you may be aware, AOL and CompuServe were blocking the messages, from the RootsWeb computers, for about a week. They mistakenly thought that the messages were spam. As far as I can tell, the problem has now been corrected. If you have one of these servers, you may have missed some of the messages to this list. You can look at those messages by going to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/. Once there, type in the list name and then click "Submit Query". This will then bring you to a list of dates. Click on "January 2004" to see the messages. Leslie
Hi Kay, I emailed you a couple of days ago about the McMurry name and you answered yesterday. I just wanted to say I also have an interest in the Wilkerson name . My husband's grandmother was a Wilkerson. I pick them up in Alabama abt. mid 1850 so have not gotten them back into the Carolina's yet. The McMurry was my side. Sure hope you find your answers. Other of my husbands other ancesters came through the Carolina's some around Rutherford Co. area. Small world I guess. Stay in touch if you find anything. Carol
