I have a hypothesis and am wondering if others have on their tree something that might confirm my hypothesis. On my tree I only have William McLoughlin (who would have been born around 1775 in Ireland) as having one son who is Martin born 1799. On my tree I only have one child listed as the son of William McLoughlin...again that is Martin. My hypothesis is this: I believe William had two other sons those being Michael and William. I beleive they are Martin's brothers. These are the reasons I believe this to be true: Both Michael and Martin lived in Ballyhasty. Unsure about William as that information was not recorded on the records received. There is just a blank. But we know William was at least nearby as he is listed in the parish records. Martin (wife Temperance Kyte), Michael(wife Sara or Sally Green) and William (wife Only or Honor Loughnane) all have for sponsors of one of their children William McLoughlin who if my hypothesis is correct would be their father. Both William McLoughlin and Michael McLoughlin list Martin McLoughlin as a sponsor for one of their children. Martin McLoughlin lists Honor McLoughlin as a sponsor. William is married to Honora Loughnane but her married name would be Honora McLoughlin. I suspect that the a was left off and that Martin and Temperance daughter Mary's sponsor Honor McLoughlin is the same person as Honora Loughnane McLoughlin. Both Martin and William both have sponsors with the last name Gavin (okay this is kind of weak but at least I think it would show they traveled in the same circles and were familiar and close with the same people. CLose enough that they would have these people sponsor their children.) Okay that is my hypothesis. May be flawed. May not be. Does anyone have any further info? BTW, these baptism records were from Cloughjordan, Couty Tipperary, Ireland. We do believe that Martin's children born after 1842 were probably born around Limerick. The family immigrated to Ontario, Canada around 1855-59. Thanks Cheryl Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
