    3. Perhaps, if you know where he died, you could get his death certificate. That should tell you where he was born, how he died, etc. This site has info about getting various records: http://www.vitalrec.com/ Best of luck, Gerry McLoughlin NY, USA -----Original Message----- From: janeness13@juno.com [mailto:janeness13@juno.com] Sent: Thursday, April 20, 2006 7:20 PM To: MCLOUGHLIN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Hi, My name is Jane Elspeth Jones (nee Faulhaber). My grandfather's name was James Bernard (Butler) McLoughlin. I have actually found a record of his burial in Arlington National Cemetery on January 30, 1946 as he was a Major in the Army during WWII. He was also, according to family oral history, an international lawyer and had a law firm in New York with his brother Hugh. His family migrated from Ireland to Canada, where he was born (Nova Scotia I believe) and then to the United States. His father, Christopher H. McLoughlin came through Ellis Island, but according to the records he was already a naturalized citizen. Since I can't find any other records from Ellis Island about this family I'm assuming that they migrated to the U.S. through the U.S./Canadian border. This would put them on a St. Alban's list. However, the only actual documentation I've been able to find about James is his burial record. Everything else is heresay. I would love to be able to find hard documentation as pertains to my grandfather as it would mean the world to my mother. Thanks for any help.
