My great grandmother was Elizabeth Margaret Griffin born in Carlow 17 Aug 1852. Her father was either Charles or Robert Griffin - she was brought up by an uncle Charles or Robert as her father was a soldier. She names her father as Charles on her wedding certificate. She married Francis McCowan in Dublin and they emigrated to NZ. There was a Robert Blackall Griffin living at 12 or 121 Dublin St, Carlow in 1842 at 1852.
