Derby 8b 722) it will tell you the church in which they married. Their records will have the parents names and addresses. Also as the 1911 census was filled in by the head of the house, many went into more detail about their birthplace. May be a starting point. Good luck! My great grandmother was Elizabeth Margaret Griffin born in Carlow 17 Aug 1852. Her father was either Charles or Robert Griffin - she was brought up by an uncle Charles or Robert as her father was a soldier. She names her father as Charles on her wedding certificate. She married Francis McCowan in Dublin and they emigrated to NZ. There was a Robert Blackall Griffin living at 12 or 121 Dublin St, Carlow in 1842 at 1852. Anyway I would very much like to hear anything you know about Carlow Griffin's. regards Mary White Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Michael_OHanrahan Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcloughlin/18.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I believe I may be a relation. Rev. Michael McLoughlin, who died Parish Priest of Mohill, county Leitrim, former President of St Mel's College (and Diocesan seminary), Longford, was a cousin of my mother. He is believed to have been offered the bishopric of the diocese of Ardagh. He had a brother, Peter (?)in U.S., who had worked in public transport. His daughter visited Ireland in the 1960's. She had a brother who, at that time, was a member of the Good Shepherd order. My mother was MARGARET FARRELL of Ballinamanagh, Colehill, Co. Longford whose parents were JOHN FARRELL and ANNE BANNON (of Ardagh, County Longford) She was a close friend of a ------- Kenny of Carrickboy, County Longford, who was married a Bannon first cousin. They may, in fact, have been cousins! Mention of which, reminds that my first cousin, THOMAS FARRELL, of Ardagh, Co. Longford is currently married to one of the McLoughlins. I should be interested in establishing a connection. (While I had assumed that the connection to the McLoughlins was through the Bannons, it may , in fact, have been through the Farrells). Wishing you a happy and holy Easter, Michael. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. "The McLaughlins of Donegal" Website has a New Location
    2. Gerry McLoughlin
    3. Greetings All, I recently found out that John D. McLaughlin's fine website "The McLaughlins of Donegal" has changed location. It is now at: http://clanmaclochlainn.com/ If you have not seen this website, I recommend a look. It contains an amazing amount of information relating to McLaughlins/McLoughlins/MacLochlainns and other spellings of our name. Although the web site's primary focus is on the McLaughlins of Donegal and presents an extensive amount of historical and genealogical information about that sept, it also provides historical and genealogical information about other McLaughlin/McLoughlin septs of Ireland and Scotland. John's site also contains information about the results of the ongoing McLaughlin and Ui Neill DNA studies. There is a link there for those interested in participating. Note, another outstanding site for reading about McLaughlin/McLoughlin/MacLochlainn history and genealogy is the "Genealogy of the MacLochlainn Families of Inishowen" website at http://www.maclochlainn.org/ which was created by Sean Maclochlainn. Although there is a difference in opinion about certain MacLochlainn genealogy between these two sites, both websites are very informative and great assets to anyone interested in the history and genealogy of our name. Apparently he divorced his wife and she remarried so he came out to australia to be with his son. Both men were merchant seaman and joseph served in the american coast guards during the war.Joseph married Louise Larkin in 1934 and they had a son john joseph. Louise died in about 1940 from tuberculosis.Joseph was apparently in a nursing home in melbourne victoria when he died.We think both men were given pauper burials.William was born in about 1872 approx and joseph about 1905 i think in wigan.Ihope this info may help someone and if anyone has any inf! o pls let me know.
