I want to scatter her ashes in Brackloon and am trying to find out exactly where she lived. Her father was Michael - sadly I don't know my grandmother's name. They had several children, Mary, Anne, Margaret, Bridget (Bea) and John, All came over to England - Manchester and London around wartime. I am going to Ireland - to Co Mayo and Brackloon to seek out the fields she mentioned playing in barefoot and the stream that ran through the fields. They were Farmers and lived off the land. It would be great to find out exactly where she lived. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Michael McLoughlin born around 1846 in Ireland and married Ann Melia born around 1849 in 1875 in Royton, Oldham England. Both Michael and Ann were born in Ireland but the census records in England does not provide where in Ireland. Michael's father name was John McLoughlin and his occupation is listed as farmer. Ann Melia parents were Richard and Margaret Melia. Richard was born around 1818 in Ireland and Margaret around 1819 both born in Ireland. At some stage you will get information to confirm it one way or the other. I am writing as you have a name Kyte/Kite that I am tracking from Cloughjordan. I am interested in Temperance Kite/Kyte and wonder if you know anything more about her. A Jane Kyte/Kite (dates 1810 or 1811 - 24/4/1894) married Robert Williams of Cloughjordan and had children through the 1840s. One of those children Ambrose Paterson Williams is my gt grandfather born 1837. I see from your list of the children of Temperance Kite/Kyte McLoughlin and Martin Mcloughlin that they also had a child called Ambrose who was baptised on 20 October 1839. Do you know where this name of Ambrose (or the Paterson for that matter) comes from? So far I have not been able to find an Ambrose in Williams family so was presuming it came from Kite/Kyte family. I have found a Joseph Kyte in Templemore road Modreeny In CJ and so will look to find him. A P Williams moved to Australia and then on the NZ where he died in 1904. They were married before 1834. They had at least 4 children who emmigrated to the US (Boston area) around 1849 - 1850. They were Margaret (b abt 1834) Patrick (b abt 1838) John and Ann. According to 1857 Griffiths there is a Michael Farren who lives in the village of Cracknaugh, townland of Templemoyle, Clonca, Donegal. In the tiny village there are 2 neighbors named John McLoughlin and Philip McLoughlin. I am interested to see if they are possibly related to my Mary. My Farren's were Catholic. I have been told the records from their church, Malin parish were destroyed and they have nothing prior to 1856. Is anyone researching McLaughlin, McLoughlin or Farren from this townland? She was said to have arrived through Boston. Married James Sullivan, had two children, Lillian and George, and lived in Vermont in 1900. After George's death, the children were briefly in an orphanage in Albany, New York (so I assume that's where Annie lived at the time). She re-married, to a widower Henry Miller, in 1910 in Dobbs Ferry, New York, and had two more children, Mary Agnes and Jane (Jennie). Henry died three years later from tuberculosis. I also stumbled upon Mary Kate and Annie's sister Bridget -- found a marriage record for her in Holyoke, Massachusetts, dated November 1896. Unfortunately her husband Michael Griffin died just three months later, in February 1897. I don't know what happened to her after that, but this proved that at least two of the sisters traveled to the US. Maybe others did? Author: clddbd Surnames: McLoughlin, Gavin,Green Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.mcloughlin/285/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have been looking at the Baptism records that ____ sent from Ireland. I have a hypothesis and am wondering if others have on their tree something that might confirm my hypothesis. On my tree I only have William McLoughlin (who would have been born around 1775 in Ireland) as having one son who is Martin born 1799. On my tree I only have one child listed as the son of William McLoughlin...again that is Martin. My hypothesis is this: I believe William had two other sons those being Michael and William. I beleive they are Martin's brothers. These are the reasons I believe this to be true: Both Michael and Martin lived in Ballyhasty. Unsure about William as that information was not recorded on the records received. There is just a blank. But we know William was at least nearby as he is listed in the parish records. Martin (wife Temperance Kyte), Michael(wife Sara or Sally Green) and William (wife Only or Honor Loughnane) all have for sponsors of one of their children William McLoughlin who if my hypothesis is correct would be their father. Both William McLoughlin and Michael McLoughlin list Martin McLoughlin as a sponsor for one of their children. Martin McLoughlin lists Honor McLoughlin as a sponsor. William is married to Honora Loughnane but her married name would be Honora McLoughlin. I suspect that the a was left off and that Martin and Temperance daughter Mary's sponsor Honor McLoughlin is the same person as Honora Loughnane McLoughlin. Both Martin and William both have sponsors with the last name Gavin (okay this is kind of weak but at least I think it would show they traveled in the same circles and were familiar and close with the same people. CLose enough that they would have these people sponsor their children.) Okay that is my hypothesis. May be flawed. May not be. Does anyone have any further info? BTW, these baptism records were from Cloughjordan, Couty Tipperary, Ireland. We do believe that Martin's children born after 1842 were probably born around Limerick. The family immigrated to Ontario, Canada around 1855-59. Thanks Cheryl Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I queried about my Farren family and it came back that my family is believed to have lived in the Cracknagh village area of Clonca. Clustered together in this small area in 1857 were two families of McLoughlins. One was John McLoughlin and the other was Philip. The wife of my Farren ancestor was a Mary McLaughlin. I am interested if anyone has McLoughlin relatives from this location. If so did they come to the US? I have been informed by my researcher in Ireland that the records for the Clonca parish at the time of my ancestors births/baptisms have mostly been destroyed. My Farren family arrived in the US abt 1849. The children ranged in ages from about 12 - 16. They traveled to the US leaving their parents in Ireland. I am at a dead end - any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
