This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: McIntosh Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/2N0.2ACIB/1382.1 Message Board Post: Gretings Mark: Your first remarks about your William McIntosh Tree were "Take a look , find a mistake please email me, thank you." I would like to take you up on this offer. Here are a few questions I have about your William "Bangor Bill" McIntosh Family Tree. 1. Near the top of the report, you say, "When he was 20, his 2nd marriage to Margaret Fox, she died in Childbirth with John." Was Bangor marriied before he married Margaret Peggy Fox? If he was, do you have any informtion about his first wife and any children they had? 2. Continuing # 1. Or, did you mean that he married Fox first, then divorced her and remarried her again when he was twenty. I only ask that because these message boards have said that Bangor had three wives, not two, but no one has posted the name of the third wife and any family they had. Do you know anything about a third wife? 3. Continuing # 1. If Bangor was twenty when he married Fox, the marriage would have been in 1841, since you have him born in 1821. Do you have any sources for their marriage being in 1841 rather than in 1846, which is another date I have seen for the marriage? 4. Continuation of #1. What information do you have for the John whose mother, Fox, died in giving birth to him? My records only show five children for Bangor and Peggy, but John is not one of the five. How many children do you have for Bangor and Peggy and what information do you have about them? 5. You have Mary Jane "Polly" Harris born on 10 Dec 1844. When and where do you have Polly and Bangor getting married? I believe most posts show that date as about 1859, but Polly would have been only fifteen years of age or even younger in 1859 if she was born in 1844. I have seen some posts who have Polly's birthday as 1841 rather than 1844. Do you have any sources to support the later date of 1844? 6. In your enumeration of the family of Bangor and Polly, you show they had thirteen children. You have the ages and birth locations of all thirteen children. You refer to the Census records for Buffalo, Owsley, Kentucky as the source for your information. You did not identify the year of the Census you are quoting. Do you have the date? The following questions are prompted by information you show for the childen from this census record. 7. From Census records. You show William Bangor Bill at age 57 when the census was taken. Your post says William was born in 1821 in Jackson, Breathitt, Kentucky. If we add the 57 years to his birthdate of 1821, it would mean the census was ltaken in 1878. Is that the date you have for the Census? In addition, your record says Bangor was born in Kentucky, but the census you quote from says he was born in Virginia as was his father. How would you resolve this discrepancy? 8. From Census records. You say Mary Jane "Polly" Harris was born on 10 Dec 1844 in Floyd County, Kentucky, but the census records say she was born in Tennessee. If Polly was 38, which the census says she was when the census was taken, that means the cenus was taken in 1882. I have not seen this 1882 census; do you know where I could find a copy of it? 9. From Census records. The census shows the ages of the thirteen children when the census was taken. Do you have any actual birthdates (day, month, and year) and birth locations (city, county, state) bfor these children? 10. From Census records. Were Emeline MC INTOSH Dau S Female W 15 KY at Home KY VA and Angeline MC INTOSH Dau S Female W 15 KY at Home KY VA twins? Do you happen to have any birth certicates for them or other evidence to determine their birthdates and locations? 11. From census records. Same question as # 10, but for the children Robert and Richard. 12. From census records. Same question as # 10, but for the children George and Nancy J. Mark, I was going to ask you more questions about your enumeration of each of the children down to the last child Henry C., but I think I will wait until you post your answers to the questions I have already asked you. If your answers are complete enough, I may be able to get the additional information on my own that I was going to ask you about. Thank you for answering these questions! It is obvious you have done an extraordinary amount of work on the William Bangor Bill McIntosh family. Thank you for sharing it so willingly with others! Your friend, Jim
