All the records that I've found---marriage and death have his birth place as NY. Have him on the 1900, 1910 &1920 census in Minneapolis, Mn. He married Isabel Elizabeth Robidoux in 1880 at Renville Co., Mn. She was known as Mary Elizabeth.They had five Children. My Grandmother being the second. They went their own ways abt. 1900 I think. His Brothers were John b. abt 1845 and Stephen b-abt 1850 all NY. John married Caroline Falkel in Il. in 1871. William's death certificate says their Fathers name was Angus but John's says Father's name unknown. I have tried everything that I can think of to find the parents, with no luck.
