The Xenia Daily Gazette, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1913 Mr. Wade H. McIntosh who visiting relatives in this city last week was formerly a law student in Cincinnati, and for the last two years a student of the evening class of the Detroit Law School, graduating with the degree of LL.B For the last six months Mr.McIntosh has been associated with a low firm in the Majestic building, Detroit, Mich. He is the great grandchild of Cpt. Wm. McIntosh, who was the first white child born in Greene county, a justice of the early courts of 1830; one of the few Free Masons in this section in his day, and the commander of a company recruited from around Beavercreek in the war of 1812. The Captain was the father of the late Katherine McIntosh, of W. Main street. Mr. Wade McIntosh is going to Baltimore, Md., as the legal representative of the Kentucky heirs of the state of Wm. Cromwell, which was leased for 99 years; he will be associated with the law firm of Jackson & Jackson, in the Gaither Estate building. It is interesting to note that the McIntosh family is connected with the Cromwell family. Mrs. W. H. McIntosh, who was the grand daughter of Maria Sherrit nee Dorsey, daughter of Reason Dorsey and wife Frances Cromwell, daughter of John Hammond Cromwell, a descendant of William Cromwell, who owned, entailed and leased a large Baltimore estate on a 99 year lease. It is in connection with the estate that Wade McIntosh is employed for the western heirs. This is the extent of my McIntosh info. other than the 1830-1870 Census for Beavercreek, Greene Co. He is about 50 yrs of age and she about 40 Rebecca Keith also wrote the Greene County Library about John Parker McIntosh who graduated from Antioch Colleg in 1861. She supplied the following info that she had: William McIntosh - supposedly resident of Xenia, OH Family oral history says he was in War of 1812 and Blackhawk War. John Parker McIntosh, son of Wm --1 brother known is Martin McIntosh, born 1824 in ohio married 11 April 1865 to Julia Barwise Collins (1840-1918). . . they had two sons James and Charles with a daughter died in infancy. Julia had 2 brothers James B & Culbertson P. There was more with the education etc. but the librarian wrote back saying "I could not find anything that specifically said that John was the son of William. William's estate packet only referred to his widow, and since he did not leave a will that makes things harder." She goes on to warn about the need to prove the right line. I have copies of the estate info. Ellen Jane McIntosh and Samuel Morgan ask to be appointed administrators of the estate of William McIntosh late of Greene County, deceased. Personal estate $414.00. No real estate. Sureties were Aaron Paxson and Adam Routsong and suggest George Smalty, Ebenezer Steel and Andrew Wall as appraisers. Signed Ellen J. McIntosh and Samuel Morgan. (Mark on Ellen signature as she could not write) signed 15th day of June 1870 (printed 69 marked out and 70 inserted) Probate Judge J W ____ L. M ____ clerk. (No more names on the documents) I have one more newspaper article from the Xenia Gazette - 1913 that I will send shortly. Linda Swaney Sabin in Greene Co. OH

Many years ago he was elected Justice of the Peace, and a well-known citizen of this city took opostions before him in a chancery suit in 1830. In his administration of justice he gave general satisfaction. Such was the confidence in his decisions that no appeals were taken from them to a higher court. In 183? he raised and commanded a ___ company. They were uniformed in yellow hunting shirts, which gave rise to their title--the Beavercreek Yellow Jackets. Capt. McIntosh devoted much time to their drill, and was rewarded by winning for them the admiration of the ladies at regimental musters because of their fine appearance and proviciency in the ____ and evolutions. As a public officer, private citizen, husband, and father, the subject of this notice was highly esteemed. In his death, Greene County has lost its oldest native-born citizen.

To my knowledge, Nancy Murphy's parents are unknown. Nancy Murphy b1760 NC d1843 married 1788 Caswell Co NC Nimrod McIntosh b1761 Culpeper Co VA d1844. Nancy and Nimrod were buried in Robertson Co TN. Several Murphy and Murphey families in Caswell Co. NC included women named "Nancy" in the late 1700s. Did any Murphy migrations to Caswell originate in Culpeper? It's probably coincidence, but another Murphy grave is only a few miles north in adjoining Logan Co. KY. Yesterday, I visited the grave of Mary Murphy b1796 Culpeper Co VA d1855. Apparently, Mary's parents were John Murphy and Nancy Ransome. Mary Riley married abt. 1819 Dr. Johnathon Riley b10 Aug 1799 SC d30 Oct 1881. Mary and Johnathon were buried in a rural area of Logan Co. KY just north of the KY/TN State Line. (I have photos if anyone's interested). Any information regarding Nancy Murphy's family or possible connections between these individuals will be appreciated. Comments and corrections are welcome.

I have reviewed your posting on the One World Tree at Ancestry.Com for your ancestor Frank McIntosh, and I thought it was a great descendancy register. When you posted the data on the One World Tree, you only showed one son, Jesse, for Frank and his wife. Your recent post sounds like you are still looking for Jesse's siblings. If you ever find any others please let me know. Thank you! In your Post, you say, "I have seen the hand written letter that was written by William F McIntosh, grandson of Jesse McIntosh.. It was written in 1900 in his own handwriting. And it states that Frank McIntosh was the father to Jesse McIntosh." Where did you see this handwritten document? Do you have a copy of the document signed by William McIntosh in 1900 saying that Frank was Jesse's father. If so, I would appreciate a copy. The only person I know that has the original of this signed document which is entitled the "W.F. McIntosh Record dated April 19, 1900" is Arvin T. McIntosh who compiled it on December 30, 1986. I, my son Bruce J. McIntosh, and Bruce's son Scott McIntosh visited the home of Arvin T. McIntosh on Wednesday July 8, 1992. Arvin showed us the W.F. McIntosh Record and reviewed for us a lot of his McIntosh data. He thought Frank had other children, but he did not have any records to confirm this view. Your Post also said you did not know Jesse's mother's name. I have heard that it may have been a Sarah Bennett, born about 1773 in Virginia. You may want to check on that name. Good luck!
