Hi Susan, We have a continuous line of "James" which is not unusual for a Scottish line of McIntosh's, notice the spelling of the surname.. Our bunch came from Kirkmichael, Perthshire in Scotland way back in the 1700's and beyond. Our "James" came to New Zealand in the mid 1800's leaving behind 7 brothers and sisters in the Perthshire area, who have disappeared off the "Face of the Earth". We are very keen to find these other Family members. Can you identify any one of your McIntosh's who came from Perthshire in Scotland? Good luck, Ross McIntosh In sunny New Zealand.
Hello Ross in Sunny New Zealand! Unfortunately, the only way I connect with a JAMES McINTOSH is that he (and an Esther Flanagan)was a witness for my grandparents marriage in Minnesota in 1907. That's really all I know. I am trying to find him, thinking he might give me a lead to my grandmother's ancestry. Wish I could help you more. Good luck in your search! A JAMES MC INTOSH was a witness for the marriage of my grandparents, NELLIE KITCHEN and TIMOTHY CORBETT on July 10, 1907 in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co, MN. Timothy Corbett was from Nova Scotia. I have been unable to find the parents or birthplace of Nellie (born Oct. 1, 1887 somewhere in Canada). I have been trying to find this James McIntosh - oddly enough I did find one who was on an Indian Reservation and married to a Nellie Kitchen??? We think grandma may have been an Indian; the census says French Canadian. Do you have a James McIntosh in your line? Robert names his father as John Ewen (deceased) in 1901 at the time of his marriage to Helen Park. Robert was my G Grandfather and talked of being the 7th son. He in turn produced 7 sons, my grandfather being the 7th. I am trying to prove/disprove the 7th son of a 7th son story. Robert had at least 2 siblings that I know of - Jane b 1880 and Isabella b 1873 - both have a similar statement regarding the father on their birth registrations. My McIntosh family were located in Union County, Illinois and Robertson County, Tennessee. I have not traced them back further. Do you have any idea when and where Alexander was born? We are aware of the details of our family who came from Kirkmichael back in 1850's but the other 6 out of 8 children of our Kirkmichael family disappeared, and may have later travelled to Canada at a later date. Their very common christian names are about the same as your List, but that is not unusual. I can't assume that yours were all born in Dufftown, but you may know.
