    3. Not to put a damper on the flurry of posts we've had over the last few days, but a reminder that the 20th of March will be our next post-a-thon party. To celebrate the birthday of a great MacIntyre please get ready to post your Mc questions queries or quagmires during the week from St Patricks day to the birthday of Duncan Bain Macintyre. Duncan Bain Macintyre, Scottish Gaelic poet, born 03/20/1724 For more. First paragraph from http://www.slainte.org.uk/scotauth/macindsw.htm Duncan Ban Macintyre, Donnchcadh Ban Mac an t-Saoir, was born in Glenorchy in 1724 and died in Edinburgh in 1812. In 1746 he was present at the Battle of Falkirk about which he wrote a humorous poem. He lost his sword at the battle in which he fought though perhaps not with great conviction on the government side against Prince Charles. The poet never learned to read or write and had to trust his memory for the reproduction of his own compositions. The Rev. Donald MacNicol, Minister of Lismore, helped with the transcription of the poems. Regards to all. Peter McEntyre List Administrator.
