Nobody would talk about him. Like I was telling another McIntyre/McIntire researcher, I began researching the part of the family who lived in Delta County, TX when I was a newspaper reporter in Fannin County, TX in Bonham back in the 1979-1980 period. I was even on the Fannin County Historical Commission and fought like everything to save our history from those stupid, greedy, HORRIBLE developers!!!!!! DON'T DESTROY MY HISTORY!!!! But whenever i would mention the McIntire/McIntyre family, people would suddenly have something else to do and nobody would talk about them or they would have a convenient lapse of memory. I remember seeing a court record in Fannin County that my grandfather was arrested for illegally carrying a handgun. Delta County wasn't the best for keeping records. I think it ranks there with Spartanburg Co, SC... which is where my bunch of McIntyres/McIntires (and maybe yours too) was ORIGINALLY from...I have documented my great-grandmother there, a feisty lady named Myrna Crocker in the 1860 Spartanburg Co. Census. I remember when I was a kid that there were guarded whispers about him having been a drunk (for sure) and having a horrible and violent temper. I don't think he was a wife beater though because from what i heard Myrna could match him in every respect and would have pulverized him if he so much as treated her with anything less than chivary and gallantry to which she was accustomed because she fought to get it. I don't know if Zachary Taylor McIntire/McIntyre stold anything or not. If he did, it would have been horses because he was an EXPERT on them. And it was rumored that he could talk to all kinds of animals and understood them when they responded. Chickens? No, too minor league.
