I have always suspected that his family was from either Mecklenburg and/or Rutherford or at least connected to those families. Recently I found his Revolutionary War pension application to the State of South Carolina. It includes John Mcantire's indenture agreement between John of then of Craven District SC (which abuts the NC state line) and Samuel Knox of Mecklenburg NC for the sum of 500 pound for service in SC militia of 10 months. This SC pension was for John's second service. From his Federal pension file, he enlisted the first time in 1776/1777 in Orange County NC and served in both the 2nd and 3d Georgia Continentals. After the war, he settled in the Pendleton District SC. Around 1824 he moved to Clarksville, Habersham Georgia. He died there around 1835. However, there are many of his children's names that echo those of the NC McIntire's. Also, in abt 1820 there is a Joseph McIntire in Habersham with his son James. Joseph is about the right age to be John's brother. If you have any ideas as to if, or where, he could fit into the Rutherford, Mecklenburg, Orange Co. NC McIntire families please share. I know that it is beleived that some of these families moved south from Halifax Va. Some appear to stop briefly in Orange before later moving to Tryon. I have looked for "missing" descendants of each but have had no luck. Thanks in advance for your replys, Dan
