They were (Doc) Rolf ? Barnes, and Mattie Shaw Barnes, so it is believed. As of yet I have not attained any proof of that. My great grandmother, Mary Jane Linn Hanes', mother was Susie Barnes Linn. She was born ABT 1880. Walked the trail of tears as a child, then moved from OK/ Tex line area. Which I believe was Eufala? I just don't have much on her/them... I'm curious, to the possibility that your Mary may have been a sibling of my gggrandmother, Susie Barnes. I did find out where she is buried: Bixby Cemetery, Bixby, OK. She died ABT 1953. I will send off for her death certificate soon. I am told there is a historical home somewhere in OK???? (I hate that) That was the family home. They were of Choctaw decent and "Doc" was some sort of healer and Mattie was a midwife. My grandmother told me, they were Indian doctors, using herbs and chants.. etc. My ggrandmother, Mary Jane Linn, talked about h! ow much she hated going along to help her mother, prepare the body of the recently deceased, kinda like a mortition... except, she'd go to their home. The kin was kept in the house for the "funeral/viewing". And often buried on the family property. I'm sure you knew that. That's why there are so many little cemeteries, huh? Anyway, that is truly a bummer the MAC family is too "busy/ stubborn/ lazy" or whatever to answer your simple request. Seems quite cruel, actually. Hoping this finds you well, Jill
