I do not know his whereabouts in the interim, though there were Matthew Russells in Abbeville Dist., SC and and Lunenburg Co., VA. in 1820. If his death occurred in Macon Co., NC, then that would seem to argue against residence in Lunenburg Co., VA. That there was a son named Mathew is proven by the will of Mathew Sr.: Matthew Russell. Wife: Verlinda Russell. Sons: Osborn Russell, Josiah Russell, Thomas Russell, David Russell, Matthew Russell, James Russell.
