James joined the 4th and then the 30th OVI and served in the Civil War from 1861 to 1864 but was killed while on a re-enlistment leave [aka vacation], in Columbus Ohio saving the life of a young girl on the rail-road tracks. Also we know nothing of Lavice Wilmont. She died in 1904+- at a home for the "aged". A story abount James is in the site listed with this post.
