This quote is from "The Ancestors, Life, Times, and Descendents of Ephraim Wells" written by William Wells: "Robert McIntire, was born in Frederick County, Maryland, on June 17, 1761. The names of his parents are not known. It is known that Robert had a brother, John. The McIntires migrated from Maryland to Red Stone Old Fort (now Brownsville), Youghageney Co., Va. (now Fayette Co., PA.). Robert was enrolled in the Militia by Capt. Joshiah Stringer in June of 1778, the month he turned 17. He served for one month under Gen. George Rogers Clark's command. In July of 1781, he volunteered and served under a two month expedition from Fort Pitt to Wheeling. He was discharged in Youghageney Co. on June 9, 1782" About 1790 Robert moved to Ohio Co, VA and gained possession of a farm on Buffalo Creek by "tomahawk right? (In 1796 this portion of Ohio Co. became a part of Brooke Co. On April 1, 1793, Robert purchased land on Buffalo Creek, Ohio Co, VA. from his brother, John. This land plus that gained by Tomahawk Right totaled 278 acres and made up the Robert McIntire farm." Any information about Robert's parents would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks, Janet Currie
