    1. [McIntire] Travelling records??
    2. Peter McEntyre
    3. Are any of us planning on going to Ireland or Scotland in search of our Mc's? It would be nice if those of us who are lucky enough to be able to do this kind or research remember us poorer less fortunate ones. If you ever do see the odd Mc record that does not belong to you just keep in mind that there is probably someone on this list who would love to get there hands on them. Don't waste your money or go to extra expense, if you can't copy the record, at least make a note of it somewhere. Please share all your dead ends with all of us. Your dead end may be my highway. Time to get those records rattling. We've been awful quite these last 2 months!!!. 1. [McIntire] [Admin] Off topic-VIRUS
    2. Peter McEntyre
    3. Have had a few reports of people sending a virus between members on the Mc*nt*re lists. Please be assured that it is almost impossible to receive a virus from a message that has gone through the ROOTSWEB servers. However if you send a message to someone directly as a reply to a message and you are infected with a virus, you run the chance of infecting the receiver. Please make sure you have some form of Virus protection. Please use it as at least once a month to check your hard disk. There is an online Virus checker which is free and up to date. It can be found at http://housecall.antivirus.com/ TREND MICRO. I have used it before and it is easy to use. If you don't have a virus scanner on your system please try this one as soon as possible. You may be surprised to find a bug or two. 3. I don't want to offend anybody here, but in my research and of all the old photos of Mc*nt*res I've ever seen there seems to be a very high percentage of baldness!! I thought baldness was a maternal gene, but I'm not so sure. Do you have a lot of baldness in your Mc*nt*re research? Also First names. I've never seen so many Thomas, James, Joseph, & Williams in the Mc's. This seems to be a very common pattern of name choice in our research. Would like to hear of any opinions to this. Scottish and Irish names seem to be very different. Would like to sort out our Mc's based on first name choices. Religion; It was brought up last week, but no replies. What is the Protestant; Catholic comparisons in your research? Can we group Protestant/Catholic, first name,(Irish/Scottish), Baldness/not? I think it all helps paint a picture for our research, and yes there will be many exceptions. My Grandfather; born Patrick William McEntyre (Irish Catholic) Would change to William P. McIntyre ( to disguise himself as a Scottish Protestant when job searching)!! All the best! Peter.

    3. Forwarding a request from: Darlene Barrentine Lake Village, IN Saweet2z@aol.com [If anybody can help this lady please keep in mind that there may be some privacy concerns. Discretion please!] Peter [Administrator] Hi, I have spent the last 14 months looking for an old friend (old sweethearts). Through my search, on 3/26/01, I found out he passed away 4/12/99. However, I cannot find an obituary on him. The SSDI lists his last known address as Sough Bend, Indiana (St. Joseph, IN). I have looked in the South Bend Tribune, thetimesonline.com and the post-trib.com but can't find anything. His name is: Doug McIntyre, DOB: 11/01/60 DOD:04/12/99 I have his SS# if you need it. His best friend (high school) and I found each other 2/00 and have been looking for Doug since then. We wanted to find him to rekindle the friendship and to see if he ever found peace in his life - and if not, we wanted to help him. Now, we know we are too late. We would like to find out how he passed away, where he is buried, pay our respects, and see how his children are doing. We believe he ended up divorced, but are not sure. We pray he did find peace in his life before he passed, and regret that we were too late to tell him how often he was in our thoughts and prayers over the last 25 years. We should have been looking for him all these years, in addition to praying for him. Thank you, Darlene Barrentine Lake Village, IN

    2. Hello Celia McIntire, married John Wood Rogers on March 28, 1843. Family was of or resided in or near Shinnstown, Harrison County, West Virginia. May have relocated. I am transcribing a large amount of genealogy data in an old family journal here and just came across this. There is other information that may be of their children, but I need more on Celia McIntire and would like to compare some of this information to what somebody has already researched. Thomas

    3. When looking for your Mc's. Don't assume that they came from Scotland. They may have originally, but they may have spent a few generations in Ireland before they immigrated to Canada, the U.S, Australia, New Zealand, China, Thailand, India, The West Indies, or wherever. I see way to many people looking in Scotland. Don't limit your search to there. Besides. There are virtually no records in Scotland anyway. Many Mc's went to Ireland in the 1600's. For the plantation. Many were already there. Some went after. Some may have even gone from Ireland to Scotland!!!! This is were my research into my Mc's is. Stuck in Dublin! How did they get there? There aren't that many Mc's in Dublin. They are all in the North of Ireland or Scotland or more so at this time in the U.S. And then why did they decide to go to Australia. The convict shipments had stopped. The gold rush had stopped. The famine in Ireland had stopped.
